Learn Shibari . . .
Shibari is more than learning knots and techniques.
It is a practice that
touch,
body awareness,
communication
and responsibility
brings together.
In our classes, we create a safe space where you can learn Shibari safely, mindfully and with time to explore .
It’s not about performance or perfection, but about presence, understanding and growth — physically, emotionally and in our relationships with others.
Whether you’re holding rope for the first time or looking to deepen your existing practice:
Our classes invite you to experience Shibari
in all its depth and complexity.
What we mean by instruction:
For us, teaching isn’t about delivering content as efficiently as possible.
We see learning as a
living processthat involves experience, reflection and connection.
Shibari only comes into its own through the mindful interplay of technique, body and connection.
That’s exactly where we start.
Holistic learning:
Understand, don’t copy!
Our lessons aren’t just about how to tie something, but why.
We bring together:
- technical fundamentals and clean rope handling
- anatomical knowledge and safety considerations
- body awareness and breathing
- the effects of closeness, tension and letting go
This builds an understanding that goes beyond the purely practical.
Responsibility and support
We take our responsibility seriously, because Shibari is more than technique: it involves bodies, awareness, trust and connection, and all of that needs a safe foundation. That’s why we shape our lessons and courses to create a safe, reflective and sustainable learning environment. With our presence and experience, we support you on your journey, offering guidance and clarity. Our aim is to create a space where learning doesn’t just inspire you in the short term, but stays with you for the long run.

The course introduced me to Shibari in a completely new way. I felt safe and welcome from the very first moment. You both teach with such warmth and clarity that I not only understood what I was doing, but also truly dared to engage with it. It's clear how important a solid foundation and genuine responsibility are to you. For me, this wasn't just a course; it was a space for experience where I was able to grow.

Prevention, not reaction
For us, safety is not an extra theory topic or an emergency measure. It is the foundation of our teaching, right from the start. We see safety as a proactive, ongoing process. Our aim is to spot risks early, reduce them, and prevent them from arising in the first place. We structure our teaching so that safety isn’t only discussed when something goes wrong, but considered from the outset.
Pausing, asking questions, observing, and reflecting are actively encouraged.
Room for questions and growth:
All you need to bring is curiosity and openness. Questions, uncertainties, and individual ways of learning are very welcome. We take the time to explain, revisit, and reflect on things together. Learning is a process!
Learning without pressure to perform
There is no “right pace” and no target you have to reach.
Our classes aren’t a competition, but an opportunity to
explore Shibari with honesty and care.
Learning through experience:
Shibari isn’t learned through explanations alone, but through direct experience: feeling touch, tension, stillness, uncertainty, or trust in your own body and in interaction with the space and other people.
This experience is at the heart of our classes. We create opportunities for you to notice, experiment, and reflect without having to meet fixed expectations. Learning happens through hands-on practice as well as through observation and taking a pause.
We pay particular attention to:
- a considerate, unhurried environment
- clear communication and instruction
- respect for individual boundaries
- a thoughtful approach to expectations and responsibility
Alongside our classes, we offer supportive practice sessions. They deepen your understanding, build stability and body awareness, and give you the chance to revisit specific aspects with our support. This creates a solid foundation for technique and expression to develop organically, making learning an ongoing process.

Learning Through Connection, Mindfulness, and Consent:
Shibari unfolds through connection—with yourself, your body, and the person you're with and the space you move in. This connection can be quiet or lively, observational or active, on your own or shared with another. Our teaching invites you to listen attentively—with your hands as well as your words. What sustains it is mindfulness: attentive awareness on several levels:
- Physical: Breathing, tension, circulation, pain
- Emotional: Uncertainty, overwhelm, trust
- In connection: Changes in your own presence and in the interaction
.
In our teaching, we see mindfulness and connection as the conscious shaping of interaction. Safety comes not from control, but from attentive sensing, acting, and reflecting. Communication and consent are not merely part of the process—they are foundational.
For us, consent is not a one-time “yes,” but an ongoing dialogue. Consent can change and may be renegotiated or withdrawn at any time. Saying no is a natural part of treating one another with respect—a moment of clarity and care for yourself and others.
.
That’s why we place particular emphasis on the following in our learning process:
- Clear, respectful communication
- Sensitivity to individual boundaries
- Attentive awareness and responsiveness
- A conscious approach to responsibility and group dynamics
.
This creates a learning space where meaningful connection can happen.

Teaching philosophy ... how we teach:
We stand for Diversity in ropes and are committed to sexual diversity, diverse gender identities and body positivity. Guided by the belief that everyone, regardless of gender, age, weight, individual needs or disability, can find their own way into rope bondage, our consent-based workshops offer a safe space to connect with trust and care and explore the world of rope in your own way.
x
We teach both roles in rope, active and passive, and take the time needed to help you feel safe in every respect right from the start. It’s important to us to teach not only the "how" but also the "why" — understanding, not copying, is our guiding principle!
In all our classes, we value a holistic approach to learning, with a balance of technique and emotion. Alongside technical and safety aspects, elements such as body movement and working with flow play an important role.
We help the bottom or model develop a personal risk profile by providing therelevant knowledge. With tips and tricks on body positioning, we show, among other things, how to manage targeted loading and unloading during a suspension so everyone can enjoy their own unique flight — whatever their disability, body shape, size or gender! As we both actively tie, we can support you throughout the problem-solving process and your learning journey.
x
We share our knowledge in a non-dogmatic, responsive and participant-focused way. Even in our module and group workshops,
small group sizes allow us to offer individual support so everyone receives useful feedback. Although the modules follow a set structure, we’re happy to explore topics in more depth at the group’s request.
In addition to group workshops, we offer one-to-one sessions tailored to your skills and goals — with the added benefit of flexible scheduling. In private lessons, our full attention is on you. This is a real advantage, as people learn at different speeds, retain things differently and need more or less support at different times.
Whether in a group workshop or private session, we believe our students should experience their lessons as an energising and emotionally moving — quite literally, touching — time, rather than simply learning techniques for "ties and knots".
x
We also support our students outside classes and workshops, helping them tie and practise at our ownrope meetup ZENDO, at "Kumite" (training sessions), and through other ways of getting in touch.
