ZEN:DO BYO

freies fesseln & offenes Raumkonzept im Zendo

Bring your own. Your ropes. Your evening. Your space.

.
We open our ZENDO and give you the space and time to spend the evening as you wish, because sometimesSometimes you don't need a meticulously planned evening or theme. Sometimes you just want a space where you can captivate someone.

That's exactly what it's for. ZEN:DO BYO.

Whether you're just starting out, practice regularly, or have been working with ropes for a long time: what matters is not how much experience you have, but that you can handle the open framework independently and responsibly.

ZEN:DO BYO is deliberately different from our classic ZENDO bondage meet-up.

Unlike our classic ZENDO bondage meet-up, we don't elaborate on the evening's details. There's no specially prepared setting, no elaborate decorations, and no framework we've created or maintained. This allows us to keep the organizational effort to a minimum and offer you ZEN:DO BYO at a lower price. ZEN:DO BYO is therefore intentionally more understated, uncomplicated, and functional, allowing the space to simply be space.

If you fancy an uncomplicated evening with your ropes and don't need the special atmosphere of our bondage meet-up this time, you'll find the perfect space for that at ZEN:DO BYO.

Want to experience more? Click here for the ZENDO bondage meet-up.

At ZEN:DO BYO, we take the name literally: Bring Your Own.

Bring Your Own also means: You decide what you need for your evening.

In addition to your own ropes, please bring everything else you need for your rope practice. And please bring some food and drinks. The BYO principle applies to food as well: instead of catering or pre-prepared meals, it's self-catering. Everyone brings something for themselves, and anyone who wants to can bring something to share.

This way, the evening remains uncomplicated and exactly what it should be: a space that we provide and that you fill with life together.

FAQ ZEN:DO BYO

  • What exactly is ZEN:DO BYO, and what is the difference between it and the ZENDO bondage meet-up?

ZEN:DO BYO is an open rope bondage evening where we simply provide you with our space and equipment. At the ZENDO bondage meet-up, we create a shared experience. This includes the special setting, atmosphere, decorations, as well as food and drinks provided by us. BYO is therefore not a smaller version of the bondage meet-up, but rather an uncomplicated option for anyone primarily looking for a space to practice bondage.

  • What does "BYO" mean in ZEN:DO BYO?

BYO stands for "Bring Your Own"... and we mean that quite literally. Bring everything you need for your evening. That includes food and drinks: instead of food prepared by us, there will be a potluck buffet.

  • We'd love it if you contributed something to the potluck. It could be something homemade, something from the bakery or supermarket, or simply something you enjoy eating and would like to share. It shouldn't be an extra effort, but rather an easy way to enjoy the evening together.

  • What equipment can I use at ZEN:DO BYO?

Is ZEN:DO BYO suitable for beginners?

  • Does ZEN:DO offer BYO classes or workshops?

No, as with all our experiential offerings, there are no lessons at ZEN:DO BYO. If you want to learn something specific, our workshops, RopeLabs, or Kumite are a more suitable option.

  • Is ZEN:DO BYO the same as a free training session?

That's essentially what it's about: Our ZENDO is open to you for your own rope practice. We wouldn't consider it training in the traditional sense, because there's no training plan, no learning objective, and no instructions. You decide for yourself whether you want to practice, experiment, or simply tie someone up.

  • Do I need to bring a (rope) partner?

No. You're welcome to come with your regular rope partner, meet up with others, or even come alone. BYO is an open evening where things can happen spontaneously on the spot.

  • Is ZEN:DO BYO suitable for beginners?

ZEN:DO BYO is not a beginner's course. You can participate even with little rope experience, but you should be able to structure your evening independently. If you want to take your first steps in Shibari and would like guidance, we recommend a suitable workshop first.

  • Can I just watch/chat during a BYO (Bring Your Own) event?

Of course. You don't have to be captivated the entire evening. ZEN:DO BYO is an open evening where you decide how you want to spend your time. If you need a break, want to chat, or simply watch others, there's plenty of room for that too.

  • Because with BYO (Bring Your Own), we deliberately organize and prepare less. We don't create a special setting, decorate the room specifically for the evening, or provide food or additional entertainment. This allows us to keep our costs down and pass those savings on to you.

  • AWARENESS & GUIDELINES

Are there rules of conduct? Yes. Respect, consent, mindfulness, and treating each other with appreciation are mandatory. We place great importance on ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants during our events. Together, we want to create a space where everyone feels safe and comfortable. We are committed to being an LGBTQIA and neurodivergence/neurodiversity-friendly and generally inclusive space. Abusive behavior or other violations will not be tolerated, and we will exercise our right to refuse entry if necessary. By entering the event, you expressly agree to the house rules, code of conduct/netiquette, and the legal information contained therein, and you commit to complying with them. Remember, we all want to have a good time together and look out for each other – disruptive behavior or disregard for the rules will lead to immediate and permanent exclusion!
